We are looking for world-class technical talent to join our Applied Materials Technical Infrastructure team. This is an onsite position at our R&D site in Sunnyvale, Ca.
Scope and Objectives:
The R&D Lab supports Applied Materials most advanced semiconductor machines including supporting equipment and facilities infrastructure.
The position is a Facilities Electrical Engineer supporting tool installs, new factory upgrades, and site infrastructure. This includes pulling together new machine technical facility requirements, SOWs, cost analysis, quality parameters, projected durations, safety requirements, and resourcing requirements.
Facilities Electrical Engineer
Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise. Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. May lead functional teams or projects.
Job Description:
• Responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operation, repairs, and planning of the facilities electrical distribution systems to ensure maximum safety and building uptime
• Technically lead for design, installation, operation and maintenance of low, medium, and high-voltage electrical distribution equipment for new infrastructure projects
• Review and audit Arc Flash and Breaker Coordination studies provided by design team to ensure compliance with applicable standards including National Electic Code, NFPA70E, OSHA, etc
• Interfaces with internal and external customers regarding complex electrical issues for specific projects using verbal and written communications or presentations
• Implement concepts for wide range of complex electrical systems solutions
• Responsible for planning, budgeting and executing Year-end Maintenance activities
• Interact with 3rd party IFM provider to ensure proper proposals, designs, installation, design documentation, operations and maintenance of electrical and appicable controls systems
• Review operation, maintenance, trouble shooting, project commissioning and acceptance related documents for resonponsible facilities systems; recommend and implement improvements
• Respond to business interruptions or internal customer escalations
• Evaluate facilities system capacities and capabilities and review assigned points of electrical connection for new equipment
• Review and approve facility systems, fit-up and tool hook-up designs
• Review and provide written comments on design plans and specifications prepared by others.
• Problem identification and troubleshooting a wide range of complex electrical problems with limited to minimum or no supervision
• Specify and/or perform engineering analysis of complex scope
• Define, coordinate, perform and generate engineering test reports
Functional Knowledge:
• Demonstrates in-depth and/or breadth of expertise in own discipline and broad knowledge of other disciplines within the function (i.e. electrical, PLC, etc.)
• Identify and conceptually scope safety, compliance, capacity, redundancy, and cost savings projects
• Obtain funding and manage facilities projects per scope, schedule & budget
• Knowledge of local Fire, Building, and Environmental codes
• Experience with MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, AutoCAD, SCADA (e.g. GE Cimplicity), and CMMS (e.g.IBM Maximo)

• 5+ years working experience as an electrical engineer in semiconductor or similar industry
• Experience with contract management and negotiation
• Analyze budgets, assist in fiscal budget planning, and manage services to budgets

Qualifications:
• BS in Electrical Engineering
• Industrial, Manufacturing and Research and Development experience preferred in facilities engineering
• 5-15 years of electrical engineering design experience for industrial building projects
• Licensed professional engineer in California a plus
• LEED accreditation a plus
• Strong skills with ACAD, MS Word, Excel, Access, and Project
• Knowledge of current Cal Green, Title 24, CEC and local building codes is essential
• Preferred electrical engineering design experience for industrial facilities, labs and clean rooms involving substations, generators, load analysis for equipment and tool installation, lighting, communications, and electrical distribution for campus wide facilities
• In depth knowledge of current National Electric Codes and NFPA 70E standards
• 3+ years’ experience using SKM or equivalent software performing site coordination / short circuit / arc flash studies
• Industrial power distribution experience designing, commissioning and maintaining 115KV, 15KV, 480V, 208V mission critical systems including UPS and standby generators
• Working experience as facilities engineer in semiconductor manufacturing (wafer fab) facilities is a strong plus
• Experience with troubleshooting, testing switchgear, relays and other electrical distribution equipment is a strong plus
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge of 8D, DMAIC, FMEA and other tools
• Knowledgeable of National Electrical Testing Association (NETA) and International Electrical Testing Association testing and maintenance standards
• Ability to work effectively as an individual with minimal direction, and as part of a larger multi-functional team. Strong communications skills required to coordinate work between in-house design team members
• Strong presentation and teaming skills to coordinate with client management and end-user representatives

U.S. Salary Range:
$124,000.00 - $171,000.00
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
