Responsibilities
Examines and packs products while maintaining critical production and quality standards. Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and safety housekeeping guidelines.
- Packs polyethylene bags/liners in a neat and orderly manner according to job specification, closely adhering to the count per box.
- Checks quality of products for width and length, seal strength, packaging specifications, twist ties, and any other specification noted as special instructions.
- Report all production or equipment problems to Machine Operator and/or Supervisor.
- Place date and lot number on all cases.
- Use lane coders to stamp each carton.
- Observes all safety regulations.
- Maintains clean work area at all times.
- Assists in processing start-up as required.
- Maintains required production records as required.
- Perform other related functions and duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and write to complete required forms and verify quality products are produced.
- Must have good vision, eye-hand coordination, and hearing.
- Ability to adhere to Berry’s Safety, Health, and Environmental Vision, Policy, and Standards.
- Ability to work overtime, holidays, weekends, days, or nights for 12 or more hours.
- Ability to stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and crawl for extended periods multiple times per day.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Must have manual dexterity involving total wrist action, twisting, pulling, and raising arms at or above shoulder height.
- Ability to work in warm, humid, and cool climates for 12 or more hours per day or night.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes safety glasses, safety goggles, hearing protection, steel toe shoes/boots, face shield, gloves, and face mask.
- Ability to operate a forklift and maintain a forklift operator license.
