Felsburg Holt & Ullevig is seeking a transportation construction inspector to join our Construction Practice Group in our Greenwood Village, CO or Fort Collins, CO office. The primary function of this paraprofessional position is to work on transportation construction jobsites performing construction contract administration, observation, inspection, and documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Essential duties and responsibilities may include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Works primarily on roadway construction project sites under the supervision of a Project Engineer to provide quality assurance and project control for our project owner clients.
- Inspects transportation project construction work, including paving, structures, storm drainage systems, traffic control and other work, to verify conformity of the work with the contract documents.
- Monitors and documents the progress of construction and quantities of work.
- Understands materials testing programs and procedures and coordinates testing performed by others with the construction.
- Performs field measurements of work completed and documents for payment.
- Performs quality control and checks calculations performed by others.
- Performs shift, night and weekend work when required.
- Climbs ladders, navigates construction sites, works at heights and in confined spaces.
- Lifts and carries up to 50 lbs
- Minimum high school/GED diploma and ability to obtain industry inspection and testing certifications.
- Possession of a valid Colorado driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications.
- Strong ability to enforce contract requirements and to be part of a multi-faceted project team and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors and the public.
- Our Greenwood Village office serves clients throughout Colorado and project assignments may require travel within this area.
An exceptional candidate will have provided construction inspection on transportation projects in Colorado, including for CDOT or Local Agencies on federally funded projects; will possess CDOT Inspector certifications; will have an understanding of the CDOT Standard Specifications and Standard Plans; and has a strong ability to work as a team with coworkers, clients, subconsultants, third parties and the contractor to put the success of the project first.
The pay for this position has a range of $33 - $48 per hour. An actual offer will carefully consider a range of factors, including your existing skills, qualifications, and specific project experience.
