Overview
Responsible for performing regular inspection tests on products and materials to verify that everything is functioning properly and efficiently to company safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Exemplifies the Berry Behaviors and Values at all times. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Berry inside and outside of the plant.
- Work in a professional manner with other associates to ensure only quality product being released to the customer.
- Collect samples from each injection molding machine, secondary process, and print line for the required attribute / dimensional / functional testing per the specified frequency. Record the results on the appropriate forms.
- Notify the Shift Supervisor of any non-conformances that are found. Monitor active concerns for prompt resolution and elevate issue up the Management chain if the non-conformance is not being addressed.
- Notify Quality Assurance Manager of any quality defects which are not corrected promptly.
- Identify non-conforming product with “Hold” labels and update the hold log.
- Update X Bar R charts as required.
- Perform in-process attribute verifications and document checks. Record the results on the Quality Monitor.
- Perform first shot verifications and document the results using the appropriate forms.
- Assist as necessary with LDR verifications.
- Notify the Quality Assurance Manager immediately of any Quality Department equipment deficiencies.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Responsible for ensuring quality and housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Ensure a smooth transition between shifts by communicating any ongoing concerns / lingering issues to incoming technician.
- Various other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in fast-paced manufacturing environment; plastic manufacturing highly preferred.
- Technical background and/or experience in Quality Assurance highly preferred.
- Regularly required to sit, stand or walk for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Good computer skills required.
- Skilled in the use of measuring devices, such as height gages and calipers.
- Good mathematics skills required.
- Frequent exposure to production floor; required use of PPE including but not limited to: Bump Cap, Safety Eyewear or Prescription Safety Eyewear, Safety Shoes, Hair/beard nets, Hearing Protection and Disposable Mask.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently exposed to fumes, or airborne particles.
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
- Good communication skills--verbal and written; must effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
- Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
- Good attention to detail, time management skills, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work as a cross-functional team member.
