Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Warehouse/Shipping Clerk consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Exemplifies the Berry Behaviors and Values at all times. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Berry inside and outside of the plant.
- Work in a professional manner with all associates and department managers/supervisors.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area.
- Review shipping schedule and update changes.
- Print pick sheets and distribute copies to the Warehouse Department.
- Schedule carriers for pick up.
- Process loads using the TMC Portal.
- Obtain freight rates for quotes.
- Process bills of lading and packing lists.
- Prepare export documentation (if needed).
- Responsible for all activities of the shipping office to include liaison between the carrier, customer service, and plant personnel.
- Responsible for communicating all customer or carrier issues to include stock issues, late appointments, trailer defects, and all other issues that would affect or prevent any on-time delivery.
- Must have knowledge and understand the JDE shipping and inventory screens and be able to successfully process orders for shipment.
- Should have a thorough knowledge of freight class, LTL and T/L.
- Must have knowledge and understand the JDE receiving screens and be able to successfully process inbounds.
- Must be computer literate and be able to use and understand Microsoft Office, Excel, and other computer programs.
- Must be certified to operate a forklift. Must have been trained and successfully passed the written test and performance evaluation.
- Promote plant goals such as safety, housekeeping, quality, GMP, AIB, ISO and SQF.
- Perform any additional responsibilities assigned by management that the employee has been trained to perform.
- Responsible for maintaining and adhering to established Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and Safety Quality Foods (SQF) compliance requirements.
- Various other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL, SKILL, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, shipping/warehouse environment is preferred.
- Ability to train and obtain a certified fork lift operator certification.
- Regularly required to sit for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Must be computer literate and be able to use and understand JDE, Excel, Outlook, and other computer programs.
- Frequent exposure to production floor; required use of PPE including but not limited to: Bump Cap, Safety Eyewear or Prescription Safety Eyewear, Safety Shoes, Hi-Viz Vest, Hearing Protection.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Good communication skills--verbal and written; ability to effectively communicate.
- Ability to work well independently or in a team environment; displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
