What You’ll Do:
As a Construction Manager, you’ll lead the execution of new build and renovation projects from permitting through grand opening. You’ll oversee multiple sites simultaneously across PA, NJ, and NY, ensuring each location is delivered on time, on budget, and up to Spark standards. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about building high-quality retail spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management & Execution
- Manage ground-up and renovation projects from pre-construction through closeout.
- Drive permitting, scheduling, budgeting, bidding, site visits, and weekly GC-owner meetings.
- Serve as the day-to-day job site lead for Spark, ensuring quality and timeline adherence.
- Coordinate construction trades (civil, structural, MEP, equipment installation).
Budget & Timeline Ownership
- Manage budgets and schedules in line with company goals.
- Proactively control costs, manage change orders, and resolve field issues.
Vendor & Contractor Oversight
- Lead RFP and bidding processes.
- Evaluate contractor performance, enforce safety/quality standards, and manage contracts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Support Real Estate with site feasibility reviews and utility access.
- Coordinate with Operations, Facilities, and Finance teams for seamless execution.
- Manage utilities and permitting with municipalities.
Documentation & Reporting
- Track budgets, schedules, as-builts, and site progress.
- Provide consistent updates to the Director of Construction and leadership team.
Standards & Continuous Improvement
- Uphold Spark’s construction and brand standards.
- Lead punch walks, turnover, and post-opening reviews.
- Help develop SOPs and a construction playbook to scale growth.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 5+ years experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, or automotive construction.
- Proven success managing multiple, simultaneous projects across geographies.
- Deep knowledge of permitting, utilities, site development, and GC oversight.
- Strong financial and scheduling skills.
- Proficiency in Procore, Smartsheet, MS Project, or equivalent tools.
- Comfortable reading and interpreting full plan sets (architectural, civil, MEP).
- Willing to travel ~50%; HQ is based in Summit, NJ.
