Overview
The Skilled Operator Technician supports the plant’s operations by effectively performing all job responsibilities to ensure production demands are met while providing guidance to the Operator Technicians. The Skilled Operator Technician reports to the Production Supervisor.
Responsibilities
Perform tasks to operate equipment according to procedure under the lead of the T2a and with direction from the Production Supervisor. Implements customer required quality requirements by performing specified checks/inspections. Packages and labels finished products according to the Control Plan. When an order ends, performs a raw material line clearance. Actively participates in daily team production meetings – communicates key items within the plant environment on safety, quality, maintenance, production and continuous improvement. Follows work instructions as needed and may be asked to write, revise and train others to those instructions. Performs root cause analysis when problems arise to determine if actions can be taken immediately or appropriate personnel need to be called. Removes scrap material, gaylords, excess corrugate and roll around containers from the production area. Performs basic preventative maintenance tasks and maintain 5S environment in work area. May load scrap, regrind and/or finished products to appropriate area. Sets-up a variety of molds in press so they’re complete/ready to go into production upon completion. Ensures all parameters from cycle sheet are installed into the molding machine. Checks all safety switches and travel so no mold damage can occur. Prepares work orders for repairs. Ensures all machine guards and mold guards are in place to keep parts off the floor. Ensures all auxiliary equipment is in place and in working order. Adjusts mold settings; clamp pressures, mold and material temperatures using measuring instruments, hand tools, and gages as required, per the setup sheet. Ensures the press and area around it are clean after completing setup. Analyzes mold problems and assists in making the proper adjustments.
Qualifications
1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment specifically in a plastics injection environment. Must perform well on the T2 technician trainee assessment. Possesses well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a high paced and multi-task environment and maintain positive team spirit. Demonstrates very detailed organizational skills. Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision while guiding T1 staff production.
