Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Production Manager, incumbent will be responsible for monitoring daily production, quality and scrap and maximizing equipment operations within established standards. Incumbents may be assigned to work in all areas of production.
- Follows all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Performs duties in a safe manner and reports all observed safety hazards to manager. Participates in safety programs by reporting Unsafe Conditions, Unsafe Acts and Close Calls; enters Near Miss data and observations into Global Data Center database (GDC)
- Maintains assigned area free of safety hazards; reports safety issues to the Process Engineering Manager or Safety Manager; works in a safe manner and acts as an example to other team members.
- Organizes and leads employee driven teams to address scrap, quality, safety or other production related issues.
- Works on a variety of equipment and machines (extruders, bag machines, folders, automation, winders, box machines, etc.) and maximizes equipment operations and up time on all equipment while maintaining quality and production rates.
- Troubleshoots equipment; determines and recommends appropriate solutions.
- Reviews processes and procedures and updates as needed.
- Sets up job changes; works with Senior Operators and Operators to ensure efficient job changes and reduce down.
- Coordinate maintenance functions as needed to ensure production lines are operating. Follow-up on all work orders to ensure that the closed looped system is followed.
- Trains and develops Senior Operators and assists them with training subordinate operators. Assesses training needs and works with Process Engineering Manager and Human Resources to schedule and/or develop appropriate training.
- Responsible for startups of new equipment; evaluates performance and integrates new equipment into production process.
- Looks for opportunities to improve processes and output utilizing MEEF and EFF reports and other reports as appropriate; presents improvement to Production Manager for review and approval; organizes and leads teams as needed to review and implement process improvements.
- Employee may be required to work various shifts other than primary shift in order to perform job duties.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED; one to two years’ technical school or college level courses preferred.
- 3 or more years of experience in manufacturing processes in blown film operations. Prior experience in various areas of production such as Twist tie, Drawstring, Roll Stock, etc. as an Operator or Senior Operator highly desirable.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to make practical decisions without appreciable direction or advance preparation
- Working knowledge of a variety of computer software utilized to prepare reports and correspondence and manage production
