The Electrical Engineer will work in laboratory and field test environments with Eden’s Senior High Voltage Engineer and Eden’s interdisciplinary R&D team to design, build, optimize, and deploy high voltage pulsed power devices and systems for electrical reservoir stimulation. Investigating the impact of electrical parameters of rock fracturing will support the efforts relevant to the geothermal-, mining-, geological H2-, and CO2 sequestration industries. This role requires fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering principles, AC and DC circuit analysis, electrical measurement techniques, breadboarding, and soldering.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Work closely with the Senior High Voltage Engineer to develop lab and field scale pulsed power devices and systems.
· Support the engineering team in the optimization of electrical stimulation parameters.
· Perform electrical stimulation experiments on both laboratory prepared and natural rock samples.
· Design and build low voltage control circuits for pulsed power devices.
· Design and build electrical noise suppression systems (Faraday cages, voltage suppression systems).
· Assist the geomechanics team in measurements of electrical properties of various mineral samples.
· Prepare and present project updates, technical presentations, and reports for team members.
· Some travel may be required.
· B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
· US citizen or green card holder
· Experience performing electrical measurements with test equipment such as oscilloscopes and digital multimeters.
· Prior breadboarding and soldering experience.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Experience in mechanical fabrication is a bonus.
· Experience working with and building high voltage circuitry is a bonus (e.g. Marx Generators, Inductive adder circuits, pulse transformers).
· Experience with electrical properties of materials is a bonus.
