SUMMARY:
Provides support to field sales, customers, and internal departments in the areas of product and application knowledge, pump sizing and selection, proposal generation, and order processing/management. Specifically, activities include, but are not limited to, review of customer specifications, pump sizing and selection, proposal preparation, providing technical support to customers, and interacting with customer service and operations to support pump orders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review application information, size pumps, and select appropriate accessories to support field sales, distributors/agents, end users, OEMs, and engineering firms. Review customer application information and specifications to make comprehensive, professional proposals. Support customer service in the processing/management of orders and resolve any issues that arise. Coordinate with customer service and purchasing to solicit quotes for equipment from outside vendors. Act as a liaison between the customer and operations. Support customer service in the handling of returned goods or warranty claims. Interface with field sales and customers on products and applications and develop effective rapport. Address customer queries and technical questions. Troubleshoot pump issues and problems and resolve with customers. Support sales in the follow up of active and specific projects and quotes. Support sales in the contacting of prospective customers for possible pump applications. Travel with and participate in sales calls with field sales and distributors/agents as part of the application development process. Attend tradeshows and participate in the coordination and setup of same. May be assigned other responsibilities as needed to support the overall strategy and growth of the Engineered Valves unit.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. /B.S.) from four-year college or university in mechanical engineering or equivalent or 3-5 years of applicable experience working with rotating equipment of which the primary focus would be on positive displacement pumps and pumping applications (willing to consider entry level candidates with the appropriate technical experience). Must have excellent communication skills and ability to direct customers while performing field service/training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or coworkers of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to utilize pump sizing software.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. A working knowledge of positive displacement and centrifugal pumps. Ability to troubleshoot technical issues over the phone. Experience with AutoCAD is helpful.
COMPUTING SKILLS:
Ability to effectively utilize word processing software and spreadsheets and to navigate and use other custom applications software in an MS Windows environment.
