The Production Manager oversees the production department, people, processes, and equipment. The Production Manager is responsible for implementing the production plan as safely and efficiently as possible. They are responsible for hiring, training, and retaining team members to accomplish this goal. They will foster a collaborative environment built on teamwork and cooperation with associated support departments to achieve this goal.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall guidance and direction for the Production Department (Versalite Extrusion, Cup Forming, Thermoforming Cups, Thermoforming Lids, Printing and Onsite Warehouse).
- Determine staffing strategy to ensure efficient implementation of production plan.
- Implement effective training program to onboard, train, and retain team members with safety being a top priority.
- Promote a positive safety culture and encourage robust employee engagement to achieve Safety Excellence.
- Instill a consistent quality culture in to the daily operations with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Direct the daily production activities of the Production Department including scheduling, raw material supply, prioritizing equipment repairs, and improvement opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative relationship with support departments and other department leaders to effectively and efficiently address issues.
- Inform production staff of department performance, improvement opportunities, and other pertinent information and inspire team to succeed.
- Ensure department compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies in regards to safety and quality (OSHA, SQF, ISO, etc.).
- Convey production results and other critical information to Plant Director and/or Regional Leadership as needed
- Analyze department performance to identify improvement opportunities and oversee and/or participate in special projects related to continuous improvement.
- Respond to internal and customer complaints and implement robust and decisive corrective and preventative actions.
- Assist in the testing, development, and implementation of new and/or advanced materials and products.
- Provide employee leadership to the facility.
- Assist operating management with budgeting, production statistics, cost analysis, justification of capital expenditures, and asset management.
- Maintains a sense of urgency and accountability in the department to ensure prompt responses to employee needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Management / Business preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role required.
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Extensive thermoforming knowledge preferred.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and direct employees.
