Our opportunity:
Chewy, America’s #1 pet pharmacy, is seeking Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technicians to join our pharmacy team in Pittston, PA! The ideal candidate will support all facets of low, medium, and high-risk level sterile compounding, including the preparation of injections, infusions, ophthalmic preparations, and inhalation or irrigation solutions. This position requires strict adherence to USP Chapter 797 and 800 standards and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the highest standards of strength, quality, purity, integrity, sterility, and endotoxin content. The Technician will work under the supervision of the Sterile Compounding Pharmacist to ensure aseptic processes are performed according to policies and procedures. The technician must have knowledge of the accurate use of compounding equipment in both cleanroom and non-sterile lab environments.

What you’ll do:
- Perform sterile compounding using aseptic technique, ensuring all preparations meet required standards.
- Maintains familiarity and compliance with compounding standards, including USP 797 and 800.
- Ensure aseptic processes, including garbing, hand-hygiene, cleaning, environmental monitoring, aseptic technique, and verification testing, are performed according to policies and procedures.
- Use compounding equipment accurately in both cleanroom and non-sterile lab environments to make sterile and non-sterile compounds.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and supplies needed for compounding.
- Maintain standards for strength, quality, purity, integrity, sterility, and endotoxin content in all compounded preparations.
- Work closely with the Sterile pharmacy staff to ensure efficient and safe compounding practices.
What you’ll need:
- Proficiency in the accurate use of compounding equipment in the cleanroom and non-sterile lab vital for both sterile and non-sterile compounds.
- Ability to follow all company SOPs.
- Familiarity with USP <795>, <797>, and <800> guidelines for the preparation of compounded medications.
- Prior training/experience in aseptic technique and extemporaneous compounding, with high-risk/category 3 sterile compounding experience preferred.
- Ability to maintain inventory and supplies.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 Years sterile compounding experience
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification. PTCB or NHA (CPhT)
- Must have visual acuity, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Ability to lift at least 25 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and work in a variety of positions and locations such as sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and walking
- Ability to wear the required PPE for prolonged periods of time
- Capability to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Compounding Team Members may be exposed to hazardous chemicals used in the preparation of compounds (some are classified as hazardous and/or toxic by the National Institute for Safety and Health and special safety precautions must be taken when working with these chemicals)
