Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY: The Coating Supervisor has managerial and operational responsibilities. This position is accountable for the manufacturing of products within the coating department that meet the customer and internal qualifications with regard to quality, timelines and costs which are comparable or superior to competition. This individual is responsible for work safety, good manufacturing practices and environmental protection awareness with special attention given to fire and explosion hazards. As a member of the plant management team, the Coating Supervisor provides input and demonstrates leadership to support the plant’s operating plans and strategies.
Shift: 12hrs X 4days -Flex Schedule
FRONT LINE LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and providing clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations
Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk
Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws
Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventative actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks
Lead all required meetings with safety (I.e. Pre-Shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc..)
Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner
Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals
Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
Lead department 6 “S” efforts.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure the department is operating in accordance with company principle/policies/guidelines.
Ensure the department’s assets are utilized and maintained optimally to yield products that meet quality and cost standards.
Provide input for improvements and/or capital investments to achieve/maintain quality productivity levels.
Ensure that department staffing is properly organized, trained, motivated and supervised so that people understand company standards/policies/principles and work towards targets and goals.
Set targets and goals for operating units to achieve continuous improvements with regard to safety/service/productivity.
Rigorously enforce all safety rules and regulations.
Develop personnel through one-on-one review sessions, training and project assignments to utilize their potential and build qualified back-ups for key positions including his/her own.
Maintain production schedules, coating records and raw material usage as required.
Participate fully in appropriate task committees.
Monitor employee performance, conduct personnel evaluations, and performance management of employees
Participate in hiring process including, interviews and talent assessment.
Initiate, document and deliver any required disciplinary actions for team members in a timely and professional manner.
Resolve conflicts among team members and refer issues to higher authority when needed, documenting all necessary information in a detailed and timely manner in support of formal investigations.
Initiate all required purchases and work orders.
Responsible for the department’s compliance with the company’s ISO 9000 certification requirements.
Perform a variety of other tasks of equal or lesser complexity as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess strong leadership and people development skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with production planning and scheduling tools
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Quality orientation and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Must be fluent in English, read and write.
- Bilingual a plus
- High school Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production techniques
- Experience: Manufacturing 3 years (preferred), Supervising 2 years (preferred)
- Basic computer skills, including Office 365.
- Advanced education in a related field is a plus.
- Forklift Experience a plus
Compensation: $75,000 to $85,000 Annually
