Responsibilities
- Provide overall guidance and direction for the Thermoforming Tooling Department.
- Determine staffing strategy to fulfill department demand safely and efficiently.
- Implement effective training program to onboard, train, and retain team members with safety being a top priority.
- Promote a positive safety culture and encourage robust employee engagement to achieve Safety Excellence.
- Instill a consistent quality culture into the daily operations with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Foster a collaborative relationship with all department leaders to effectively and efficiently address issues.
- Responsible for maintaining production tooling assets through preventative maintenance programs, repair activities, and capital expenditures.
- Ensure department compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies in regard to safety and quality (OSHA, SQF, ISO, etc.).
- Analyze department performance to identify improvement opportunities and oversee and/or participate in special projects related to continuous improvement.
- Maintains a sense of urgency and accountability in the department to ensure prompt responses to employee needs.
- Aid with new mold designs and implementation of new products and processes.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED equivalent.
- Preference given to candidates with advanced degrees or certificates.
- Prior experience in mold making, industrial tool maintenance, or thermoforming.
- Ability to read technical drawings and prints.
- Must have good communications skills, written and verbal.
- Must know how to use basic measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Previous experience with lathes, mills, grinders, etc. is not essential, but preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to work around grease, oils, and solvents without adverse reactions.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat throughout entire shift.
- Must have good manual dexterity.
- Must be able to differentiate color.
