Responsibilities
- Provides human resource leadership primarily for DOT CDL-A drivers while also supporting a diverse workforce in our four warehouses. Delivers key HR processes including staffing, organizational design, talent management, succession planning, internal communications, employee relations, compensation and benefits, diversity and inclusion initiatives, training, and employee development, among other things.
- Supports Berry Global sites in recruiting CDL-A drivers by managing the full-cycle recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing driver candidates. Ensures compliance with DOT regulations and company policies throughout the hiring process. Collaborates with operations teams to assess staffing needs and implement targeted recruitment strategies that align with business goals.
- Understands employment law and regulations applicable across most states to ensure compliance and minimize legal risks.
- Manages payroll processing for employees across multiple locations, ensuring accuracy, timely payments, and compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Provides general HR support and advice to supervisors, managers, and employees on employee relations concerns. Oversees employee relations, including conflict resolution, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
- Conducts investigations and recommends appropriate actions that minimize risk.
- Develops, implements, and manages company policies and procedures.
- Assists employees with benefits-related inquiries and oversees the open enrollment process for all assigned locations, ensuring that employees are informed and have access to the necessary resources.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date personnel files for all employees, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward company goals.
- Conducts training sessions for employees to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Collects and analyzes feedback from performance reviews to identify areas for improvement and development opportunities.
- Provides reporting of HR KPIs such as absenteeism, turnover, training, retention, headcount, Miles driven, hours worked etc.
- Coordinates the annual increase process.
- Conducts internal and market compensation analyses to determine target new hire wages/salaries and competitive wage rates.
- Organizes company events (e.g., holiday parties, raffles) and coordinates annual and quarterly recognition programs.
- Manages all aspects of employee travel arrangements, including booking flights, hotel accommodations, car rentals, and Ubers for employees.
- Oversees the ordering and distribution of uniforms, shirts, and promotional items (swag) for employees.
- Responsible for termination and discharge of any Berry Global employee and oversee unemployment hearings
Qualifications
- BS Degree in Human Resources/Business or equivalent experience.
- PHR or SHRM Certification a plus
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in Trucking or logistics.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Solid knowledge of State and Federal employment laws.
- Strong analytical abilities.
- Strategic thinker.
- Project management skills.
- Occasional travel is required
