Position: Director, Internal Communications
Reports to: Chief People & Strategy Officer (interim basis)
Division: Corporate
Location: Evansville, IN or Barcelona, Spain preferred
The Director of Internal Communications owns the development and delivery of a strategy that connects, informs and inspires our employees around the world. This role involves developing compelling content grounded in storytelling principles to personalize our narrative, resonate with employees and customers, and support Berry’s employment brand with current and prospective employees.
Responsibilities
- Create and deploy a global internal communication strategy that supports the organization’s global strategic priorities and programs.
- Write, edit, and deliver impactful communications through newsletters, emails, intranet updates, social media and more.
- Manage and enhance the company’s intranet on platforms like SharePoint and internal TV screens, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and functional effectiveness.
- Oversee global social media channels, coordinating the publication of communications to foster employee engagement and alignment with corporate messaging.
- Create presentations and corporate materials aligned with Berry branding to effectively convey key information, narrate engaging corporate stories, and strengthen our brand identity.
- Foster strong relationships with functional departments to develop clear, consistent, and creative communications segmented by target audience, driving strategic business objectives.
- This role will also play a key role in developing, evaluating, editing, managing internal content, and measuring its effectiveness. Duties include managing content and news workflow to modernize and standardize communication efforts within the organization, adhering to brand standards and approval processes.
Qualifications
- BS/BA with Masters preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive communications experience.
- Exceptional writing skills with a focus on effective storytelling and presentation.
- Proven experience managing and updating company intranets.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities, capable of prioritizing multiple complex projects.
- Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through skills.
- Experience working in large corporate environments with virtual, cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive); familiarity with internal communication measurement platforms is a plus.
- Experience with leveraging LinkedIn as a communication platform.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to travel as needed.
