We are hiring an Associate Director, Data Scientist in Boston, MA, or Minneapolis, MN. In this position, you will be integral to building a team focused on using advanced statistical methods to improving fulfillment operations. You will be engaged from idea inception to analysis, architecture, model/algorithm creation, pipeline design, tuning and deployment.

What You'll Do:
- Lead and mentor team of Data Scientists, Research Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers and Software Engineers
- Develop and implement models and algorithms to solve complex fulfillment problems using operations research, statistics, and machine learning technologies
- Apply artificial intelligence and/or machine learning methods to design, test and scale effective, reliable frameworks, systems, and models to improve the usefulness of big data and predictive applications
- Work with Data/Research Scientists, Robotics/Software Engineers, Product Managers and Operations Leaders to develop and support new data science software products
- Formalize assumptions about model behavior, define outliers, develop methods to systematically identify and address them, and explain or resolve these issues.
- Communicate research findings and technical insights to business customers of varying technical backgrounds, providing clear recommendations and educating stakeholders.
- Implement process improvement initiatives that drive improvements to the metrics and streamline operations
What You'll Need:
- An advanced degree (undergraduate, M.S. or equivalent experience) in Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or equivalent quantitative fields such as Engineering, Computer Science with a background in machine learning
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in developing and deploying optimization, predictive and machine learning model
- 3+ years of experience in leading and managing operations research, data science or advanced analytics teams
- Experience in leading and mentoring team of scientists
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain details of complex concepts to non-expert customers in a simple and understandable way
- Experience coding and analyzing data using Python, SQL or R
- Extensive experience working with Linear Programming, Mixed Integer Linear Programming, and ML models
- Experience with frameworks such as Pytorch, TensorFlow or Keras
Bonus:
- Experience with Amazon Web Services tools such as SageMaker or other similar platforms
- Experience of translating ambiguous customer requirements into clear problem definitions and delivering them
- Experience with Fulfillment, Robotics or Computer Vision systems
