Our Opportunity:
Chewy is seeking a Project Engineer II for its Fulfillment Center Engineering Team. In this role you will be a key member of the engineering team that manages the administrative work of the design phase of automation and expansion projects, your work will support the growth of Chewy’s fulfillment operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage project engineering tasks, including submitting spend requests, creating project timelines, and tracking progress to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
- Monitor hardware and software engineering progress, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Coordinate vendor calls, follow up with detailed notes, and ensure all stakeholders are aware of their responsibilities regarding networking, safety, WMS, controls, maintenance, and learning.
- Collaborate with design engineers to create Bills of Materials (BOM) and submit quotes/POs to procurement, overseeing the procurement process.
- Organize deliveries and installations with vendors, ensuring seamless execution of project plans.
- Gather power, data, and air requirements to facilitate the launch of new facilities.
- Hold weekly design/stakeholder calls to keep the team aligned and informed.
- Track vendor progress and team workload, ensuring milestones are met and issues are addressed promptly.
- Control changes for final designs and design updates, managing and submitting change orders as necessary.
- Submit networking requests and coordinate with learning teams to facilitate knowledge transfer and training.
- Plan Change Requests (CRs) with vendors an ensure sites are aware of and prepared for CRs.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in project management, preferably in fulfillment, distribution, or manufacturing.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and stakeholders effectively.
- Familiarity with procurement processes and vendor management.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Bonus (if applicable):
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
- Experience in ecommerce fulfillment infrastructure design and implementation.
- Knowledge of networking and facility management systems.
- Experience with change management processes.
