POSITION SUMMARY:
The Product Quality Specialist is responsible for the thorough testing and inspection of TydenBrooks’ manufactured and purchased products and raw materials to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. This role focuses on developing and executing detailed testing protocols, identifying defects, and ensuring that products are compliant with both internal and external specifications. The Specialist will work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives based on testing results.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS
- Conduct comprehensive product/material testing and inspections throughout various stages of the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with established quality standards and specifications, including ISO 9001 and other relevant certifications.
- Develop, document, and implement detailed testing protocols and inspection procedures for new and existing products, ensuring robust quality control at every step of production.
- Perform mechanical, visual, dimensional, and functional tests on products using a range of testing equipment and methods, such as tensile testing machines, calipers, micrometers, and other specialized tools.
- Analyze test results and inspection data to identify product defects, deviations from standards, and areas for improvement; prepare detailed reports and communicate findings to relevant teams.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities for any identified quality issues, working with cross-functional teams to address and prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to update product specifications, testing standards, and quality control plans based on testing outcomes and customer feedback.
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment regularly to ensure accuracy and reliability in measurement and testing; coordinate with external calibration services as needed.
- Train and mentor production staff on product testing techniques, quality standards, and inspection procedures to ensure consistent quality across all shifts.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits with a focus on product testing processes, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
- Manage quality documentation related to testing and inspection, including test plans, records, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and properly maintained.
- Serve as a point of contact for customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies regarding product testing and quality assurance issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution of any concerns.
- Associate degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field; or equivalent experience in a manufacturing quality testing role.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in product testing and quality assurance/control within a manufacturing environment, preferably in a company that produces high-security products or similar.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001), regulatory requirements, and industry standards related to product testing.
- Experience with various testing methodologies, tools, and equipment, including tensile testing machines, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Proficient in statistical analysis and quality improvement tools such as SPC (Statistical Process Control), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and Six Sigma.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail; experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective/preventive actions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy, precision, and consistency in product testing.
- Certification in Quality (e.g., Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)) is a plus.
