This position directs and coordinates activities of vendors and workers responsible for preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on various types of Powered Industrial Equipment. The Lead Mechanic ensures employees are working in a safe and efficient manner to minimize downtime and by keeping the Mobile Fleet operational. Schedule is Monday-Friday, 5:30am-4pm. This is a 24/7/365 facility - overtime and weekend work as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Manages Powered Industrial Equipment (PIE) maintenance work requests, determines priority and assigns appropriate resource
- Ensures team members comply with all safety, environmental and manufacturing practices
- Communicates to production and quality assurance equipment break downs and estimated time need to complete repairs
- Confers with venders, management and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measure to improve operation and conditions of machine and equipment
- Documents and reports maintenance work performed and advises of future requirements in a timely manner
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices
- Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment and machinery
- Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications
- Initiates purchase order for parts and machines
- Performs scheduled maintenance of fleet vehicles, i.e., brake repairs, oil changes, fluid changes, lubrications, and safety inspections as assigned
- Performs external engine repairs. Internal engine knowledge preferred
- Working knowledge in repair of vehicle drivelines, clutch replacements, electrical systems, and a/c systems
- Must have knowledge of trailer lighting, air systems, brakes, and tires
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe shop environment
- Participates and contributes to company safety program
- Performs other related duties as assigned
