Responsibilities
This position reports to the Print Maintenance Supervisor, Group Leads, and Leads. The Printing Maintenance Technician is a skilled position responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of machinery and accessory equipment with in the printing department. With the purpose of keeping the machinery and accessory equipment ready to produce quality products in a safe manner. Troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical breakdowns is an essential task of the job. The printing maintenance technician will occasionally receive task and/or projects that will require them to work independently or in a team to complete.
Essential Functions and Duties
- Troubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance on all equipment in the Printing Department.
- Follow all company policies, work and safety rules.
- Operate hand tools, power tools and shop equipment in a safe and useful manner.
- Keep a clean, safe and orderly workplace
- Keep proper records of maintenance performed on the printing presses.
- Look for ways to make equipment safer, with better quality and efficiency.
- All printing maintenance technicians are expected to walk the floor at the beginning of their shift, stop at every scheduled machine. It is expected that all printing maintenance technicians interact with production employees during the walk through, find out about machine issues and address the machine issues.

- Possess a basic mechanical and electrical aptitude
- The employee must demonstrate the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Possess own hand tools.
- Positive attitude towards hard work, authority, responsibility and team work.
Communication Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports or correspondence.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to interact with production personal in a respectful and positive manner.
Mathematical and Technology Skills
- Perform arithmetic. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Understand and utilize decimals and fractions.
- Basic computer skills including email, word processing, simple spreadsheets and use of electronic forms.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Trade School, Technical, Mechanical certificate a plus
- Mechanically inclined
- Good attendance
- Good communication skills
- Past experience in machine repair
Physical Demands
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- The employee is regularly required to stand, bend, stoop and walk for the majority of their shift.
- Able to climb up and down ladders.
- Be able to reach, feel and manipulate with hands and arms
- Ability to safely lift at least 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to work around grease, oils, inks and solvents without adverse reactions.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near machinery, powered industrial trucks, moving mechanical parts, and high spaces. Also may be exposed to fumes, high temperatures, airborne particles and loud noise.
