Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strictly adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
Stay current on all safety procedures, particularly to those relating to Hazardous Materials, Solvents, Hot surfaces, proper lifting technics, etc.
Prepare and mix hot melt adhesives as needed strictly following guidelines set in formula specifications and MOP procedures, and sample batches when required by Quality Control.
Become familiar with the operation of the hot melt mixer and all related equipment, including pumps, vacuum lifters, scales, etc.
Work closely with the Lead person to assure timely preparation of adhesive batches and continuity of operation.
Assist in training of new personnel.
Have the ability to receive and store raw materials neatly and safely.
Maintain and diligently complete mixing records including raw materials usage and raw materials variances to ensure the traceability and proper adhesive composition.
Master bar code system, for proper transmittal of receiving and inventory transactions. .
Verify raw material levels and maintain the raw material storage area organized.
Ensure that batch preparation and mixer area are kept clean and all materials/drums are labeled and properly stored at all times.
Perform, if needed, a variety of other tasks of equal or lesser complexity as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Solvent Mixing Operator should have the ability to read, write, and speak English.
- The job duration is 12 hours per day, 4 days per week. Work on a 5th day is occasionally required.
- The general physical requirements are standing and walking at least 10 hours per day, lifting up to 40 pounds a distance of 1-5 feet, the equivalent of 4 hours per day if the vacuum lifter is not within reach.
- Some climbing and pushing, pulling or rolling drum containers, hand trucks, etc. may be necessary.
- The job is both indoor and outdoor, and smoking is not permitted.
- Protective equipment, such as safety shoes and glasses are required 100% of the time, and safety goggles, aprons, gloves will be required as necessary. All safety equipment is provided.
- Forklift driving is required a minimum of 4 hours per day. The individual must pass Berry’s Forklift Training Course.
Compensation: $20-$21/hr
