Lead Mechanical Engineer (Construction - HVAC Engineering & Design)
Location: Gardena, CA (office 5 days a week - rarely travel to job site)

Supporting the HVAC and Plumbing Engineering needs across Aerospace (ex: Jet Propulsion Lab), Education (ex: Loyola Marymount & Cal State Long Beach) , Entertainment (Ex: Sony Pictures & Disney Studios), Hospitals, (ex: Cedars-Sinai, Beverly Hills) and Transportation (Ex: New LAX project).
Seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to oversee the Mechanical Engineering Department, this role will report Directly to the President (who has a background of education in Mechanical Engineering).
Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of mechanical engineering design (specifically HVAC engineering and design) as a Mechanical Engineer, including Conceptual Studies, Program Requirements, Design Analyses, Calculations, equipment selection and layout, and system selection and layout
- Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of services
- Direct and lead the work of engineers in the department; provide training as required
- Obtain guidance as necessary to resolve technical and coordination issues and conflicting criteria
- Ensure staff compliance with the Company’s quality control policies and procedures
- Provide and lead mechanical engineering support services during the bidding process, i.e., preparing addenda and amendments as required
- Perform and lead mechanical construction phase services including representing the firm onsite, answering RFI’s, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, and preparing record drawings
- Participate in team meetings and coordinate efforts with other team members
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License
- 4+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and/or Contracting
- Proficient with AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Ability to manage and mentor other engineers
- Organized, excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, good attendance, and sound problem-solving skills
