IRPI is a leading research and engineering company focused on innovation in space exploration technologies, particularly Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) and advanced aerospace solutions. Our collaborative partnerships include NASA, private aerospace companies, and major aerospace contractors. We are currently seeking a motivated Engineering Technician to support our engineering, manufacturing, and research activities at our Wilsonville, OR location.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and clean 3D printers (FDM, SLA, SLS) and laser cutting equipment.
- Post-process 3D printed parts, including support removal, cleaning, curing, finishing, and inspection.
- Set up, run, and document laser cutting/engraving jobs.
- Assist engineers in setting up experiments, including installation and operation of instrumentation, imaging equipment, and data acquisition (DAQ) systems.
- Perform basic CAD modeling and revisions to existing parts using SolidWorks.
- Support prototyping tasks including part assembly, modifications, and iterative testing.
- Document procedures, record experimental data, and maintain organized records.
- Maintain workshop organization, manage supplies, and ensure equipment maintenance and calibration schedules
- Assist with shipping, receiving, and inventory tracking of parts, equipment, and materials.
- Associate's degree or certification in engineering technology, manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (if no degree).
- Experience with 3D CAD, 3D printing, and prototyping is required.
- Proficiency in mechanical assembly and the use of hand tools.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Knowledge of various 3D printing methods, including FDM, SLA/Resin, and SLS.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software, with SolidWorks being preferred.
- Ability to operate and maintain laser cutting and engraving machines.
- Familiarity with instrumentation, imaging systems, and data acquisition setups.
- Background in aerospace, manufacturing, or research laboratory settings.
- Experience with sophisticated prototyping techniques.
