Applied Materials’ Office of the CTO is looking for an intern to join our Photonics Platform Business group in summer 2025. The position will entail some of or all the following:
- Improve existing scripts (Matlab, Python and/or JMP) and/or develop new ones, mainly for Data Analysis.
- Perform bibliographic research on novel scientific topics and share findings with the team.
- Follow the fabrication of new photonics devices in the labs, ensuring all process steps are completed, and analyze the metrology data collected throughout the flow.
- Create and/or edit simple mechanical CAD files.
Requirements
- Student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree program in Materials Science or Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with an expected graduation date between December, 2025 and June, 2026
- Student must have good Data Analysis skills and experience.
- Student must be able to independently research new scientific topics (from papers, conference proceedings, websites, etc.) and write summary reports and prepare presentations.
- Student must have some basic knowledge of Semiconductor Processing (deposition, lithography, etching, etc.).
- Student must be in good academic standing at their university, with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
- Knowledge of Python, Matlab or JMP is preferred.
- Knowledge of CAD design (using software like AutoCAD or Solidworks) is a plus.
- Quick learner, good communication skills.
Compensation
$36 - $38 per hour
The rate offered to a selected candidate will be based on a number of factors including location and education level and will vary depending on confirmed job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
