KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee all maintenance activities related to production equipment and facilities. Enhance uptime by establishing a preventative maintenance program and managing all corrective maintenance tasks. Ensure the availability of adequate staffing, training, tools, and maintenance strategies to optimize equipment availability in a cost-effective way.
DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
- Oversee and guide all members of the maintenance team.
- Ensure that all maintenance team members adhere to safe work practices at all times.
- Develop and execute a thorough proactive and predictive maintenance program for all equipment, which includes operating and testing automated lines, systems, and equipment, as well as restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing defective or non-functional components and parts.
- Collaborate closely with the Plant Manager to ensure adequate staffing levels within the maintenance department.
- Accountable for maintaining plant equipment and facilities within the established budget.
- Manage the inventory of spare parts, sourcing and ordering as needed to accommodate potential equipment and facility requirements.
- Ensure machine safety while maximizing uptime on all production equipment, including saws and pallet machines.
- Work in coordination with production management to plan maintenance activities based on the availability of equipment, labor, and spare parts.
- Adopt a data-driven approach to continuous improvement by identifying, recommending, and implementing changes, expansions, and enhancements.
- Coordinate forklift maintenance and ensure daily forklift inspections are conducted.
- Uphold a safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing all safety protocols and adhering to legal codes and regulations.
- Assist the Plant Manager with the annual budgeting process for plant maintenance.
- Enhance job knowledge for yourself and your team by engaging in educational opportunities and reading technical literature.
- Utilize Excel and company software to prioritize and monitor all maintenance activities.
- Must possess self-motivation, the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Should be capable of inspiring a team to uphold high standards of safety and productivity.

- Availability for on-call duty during evenings and weekends may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or equivalent. Technical school graduate or college education a plus.
- At least 3 years machine and facility maintenance supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to troubleshoot electronics, pneumatic and mechanical systems and direct team to make necessary repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Welding and electrical experience required; some carpentry experience preferred.
- Forklift experience required, experience moving lumber preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with ability to learn company software programs.
- Lumber experience preferred but not required.
- Able to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

- Able to communicate ideas clearly and concise, listen effectively, demonstrate understanding, and clarify meaning for others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a manufacturing environment. The noise level is usually moderate to high and requires the use of hearing protection. The employee is required to wear PPE. The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The work environment is structured, and lunches and breaks are regulated.
