Job Title: Quality Manager
Location: Chesaning, Michigan
Pay Range: $28 - $30/hr (depending on experience)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Manager to join our team. The Quality Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality are maintained across all processes and products. This individual will lead the Quality Department, manage the Quality Management System (QMS), and drive compliance with industry standards, specifically AS9100. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality management, team leadership, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Quality Department: Oversee all quality-related activities, including setting quality objectives, managing quality control processes, and ensuring team alignment with company goals.
- Manage the Quality Management System (QMS): Maintain and continuously improve the company’s QMS to ensure compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Lead and Support AS9100 Audits: Lead internal and external AS9100 audits, ensuring the organization meets and exceeds the requirements for certification. Coordinate corrective and preventive actions as necessary.
- Team Leadership: Manage and supervise the quality inspector, ensuring all inspections are performed accurately and in a timely manner. Provide coaching and mentorship to the quality team.
- Tooling and Equipment Calibration: Ensure all tooling and equipment are properly calibrated, and maintain calibration schedules to meet regulatory and operational requirements.
- Product and Process Support: Provide technical support to staff on product specifications, process requirements, and quality standards. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving quality-related issues.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives aimed at improving product quality, process efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Use data-driven approaches to identify areas for improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in quality management, including leading a quality department.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 and experience leading or participating in AS9100 audits.
- Familiarity with calibration processes for tooling and equipment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and other departments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASQ Certification (e.g., CQE, CQM, or Six Sigma).
- Experience in the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
